ECtHR starts considering complaint filed by Dagestani advocate about search in his house

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has started to consider the complaint filed by Adilgerei Omarov, an advocate from Khasavyurt, against law enforcers, who searched his house in 2008. This was reported by an advocate representing the interests of the Omarov family.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2008, family members of the advocate and federal judge suffered in the course of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) carried out in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by advocate Sapiyat Magomedova who represents the interests of Adilgerei Omarov and his family members that on July 6, 2008, an investigator from the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Russian FSB issued a warrant to carry out a search in No. 10 in Sultanov Street in Khasavyurt.

"On July 7, 2008, without any reason, a search and a special operation were carried out. Furthermore, the circumstances of that unprecedented search and intervention not only in the private life but also in the professional activities were accompanied by an act of severe physical violence. The applicant was attacked by armed men in camouflage, who forced him to lie on the floor, twisted his hands behind his back, and handcuffed him," states the text of the complaint filed to the ECtHR.

The complaint was filed to the ECtHR in the same year of 2008.
