Political analysts: Sargsyan waits for guarantees from the OSCE Minsk Group
The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group should provide Armenia with additional security guarantees and find Azerbaijan guilty of aggravating the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone, Armenian political analysts believe. According to their version, given such guarantees, Serzh Sargsyan will return to peace talks.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Armenian President stated his refusal from any peace talks without the provision of security guarantees. He was also sceptical about possible deployment of Russian peacemakers in the conflict zone.
The above additional security guarantees should assume "withdrawal of snipers from the contact line," and "introduction of mechanisms to investigate violations," believes Tevan Pogosyan, an MP from the "Heritage" faction.
Besides, the parties should every six months "inform the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in writing about the observance of the ceasefire agreement."
The situation in the conflict zone aggravated, because Azerbaijan had attempted to influence the negotiation process, Stepan Safaryan, the head of the Armenian Institute for International Policy and Security, is sure.
In his opinion, Azerbaijan is violating, apart from the tripartite armistice agreement, "its obligations before the international organizations."
