Complaint about beheading of Armenian soldiers filed to ECtHR, advocate reports

Relatives of the Armenian soldiers killed and beheaded during the escalation of the Karabakh conflict filed a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Artak Zeinalyan, an advocate representing the interests of the family members of the deceased soldiers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 14, the Investigating Committee of Armenia reported on the institution of criminal proceedings on the violation of international humanitarian law during the combat actions in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the forensic medical examination, the bodies of deceased Armenian soldiers bore numerous signs of torture and abuses, reports an official from the Investigating Committee of Armenia.

The complaint in connection with three cases of beheading is filed against Azerbaijan. The plaintiffs demand to recognize the case of inhuman treatment with regard to the bodies of the Armenian soldiers, lack of respect for their privacy, and discrimination based on nationality. This was reported by advocate Artak Zeinalyan on April 25.

Till present, no comments of representatives of Azerbaijan in connection with the advocate's statement have been received.

It should be noted that earlier, an official of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has declared a provocative propaganda campaign launched by Armenia.
