Armenia reports 88 casualties in aggravation of Karabakh conflict

As a result of the aggravation of the situation on the troops contact line 88 people perished, including 73 servicemen, the Armenia Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.

At night of April 2, the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone was escalated: the parties to the conflict were engaged in hostilities with the use of tanks, multiple launch rocket systems, and aviation. At noon of April 5, the sides declared a truce, with periodic reports of violation of the agreements. On April 8, starting from 3:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., the parties to the conflict declared ceasefire in the conflict zone to search for bodies of killed soldiers, officers, and civilians.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to the data of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) as of April 7, 2016, the losses of its Defence Army made 36 servicemen. The MoD of Armenia has clarified that as of April 8, the death toll included 44 servicemen of the NKR's Defence Army. On April 12, the NKR party claimed one servicemen remaining on the list of missing persons.

As of April 13, as a result of the exacerbation of the conflict, 73 servicemen and 15 volunteers had perished, the "Sputnik Armenia" writes with reference to the MoD of Armenia.

According to the Armenian party, the Captain Argishti Gaboyan is still on the list of missing persons, the TASS reports today.

So far, there are no comments of the Karabakh party on the data the Armenian MoD.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that Azerbaijan has confirmed the death of 31 of its servicemen during the aggravation of the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone.
