Imam of Khasavyurt mosque detained

Magomednabi Magomedov, Imam of the "Vostochnaya" (Eastern) mosque, was detained today in Khasavyurt. According to eyewitnesses, it happened, when he came to the ROVD and demanded to release the detained parishioners.

The information about the detention of the Imam arrived at the SMS-service to the "Caucasian Knot".

One of the mosque-goers said that the Imam was detained when he came to the local ROVD to demand to release the parishioners of the "Bolnichnaya" (Hospital) mosque, detained earlier today.

According to his story, the Imam was taken from the ROVD to some unknown place. Later, it became known that he is in Makhachkala, in the Centre for Counteracting Extremism of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The source has added that during the dispersal of the crowd of the believers, disgruntled with the detentions, policemen wounded one parishioner.

The mass detentions were reported on March 25 by parishioners of the Salafi mosque located in Hungarian Warriors Street of the capital of Dagestan. The police did not confirm the detentions.
