Data from "Panama archives" on offshore companies of Aliev's family confirm Ismayilova's inquiry

The data about offshore accounts of members of the Aliev family, disseminated by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) is no news for the Azeri public. Investigations on this subject were conducted by the journalist Khadija Ismayilova, who was put in jail for them. The ICIJ's publications are based on the materials she could not publish yet, told her Azerbaijani colleagues.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the report of the ICIJ, based on the documents of the Panamanian law firm "Mossack Fonseca", states that the family of President of Azerbaijan owns secret offshore accounts and shares in gold-mining companies. According to the report, Aliev's family also controls the investment company "AtaHolding", one of the largest in Azerbaijan.

According to Khafiz Babalu, an economic observer of the "Turan" News Agency, back in May 2012, Ismayilova published her investigation "Alievs' Shares in Gold Mines".

Khadija Ismayilova found confirmations that the AIMROC Consortium engaged in developing the gold deposit "Chovdar" in Western Azerbaijan was created by companies registered in Panama and owned by the daughters of President of Azerbaijan – Leyla and Arzu Alieva.

Ismayilova has also established links of the country's ruling elite with the AZENCO Company, which had received lucrative contracts from state budget for large construction projects.

Mr Babalu has not excluded that soon new material of the ICIJ will appear on businesses of Azerbaijani ministers.
