NCFD higher schools recommended adding "antiterrorist" elements to their curricula

Sergey Melikov, the Russian President's Plenipotentiary Representative in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) has called on rectors of local higher schools to draft new forms of education and upbringing work with students to counteract recruiters of international terrorist organizations.

On March 28, when speaking at a sitting of the Council of Rectors of the NCFD in Pyatigorsk, Mr Melikov reminded that "there was a student of the Astrakhan University," involved in the recent explosion of a car at the police post in Dagestan; he also recalled the case with a student of Moscow State University Varvara Karaulova.

Sergey Melikov urged the NCFD rectors "not to wait for the directive" on how to educate their students in the sphere of combating extremism and terrorism, but "to organize it themselves."

In drafting such curricular, it is necessary to pay attention to the power of the Internet, the best practices of social psychology, and "to expand the contact environment for the students, who represent different cultures," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Melikov's speech at the sitting of the NCFD Council of Rectors.
