Resident of Vladikavkaz suspected of involvement in combat actions in Syria

Investigators believe that a resident of North Ossetia has been trained at a militants' camp in Syria and is fighting in the ranks of the "Islamic State", banned in Russia.

According to the FSB Department for North Ossetia, in 2013, a 25-year-old resident of Vladikavkaz left for Syria, where he was trained in one of the militants' training camps and then became a member of the terrorist organization "Islamic State", banned in Russia.

"At present, he is involved in the combat actions together with other IS members," reports the press service of the FSB Department for North Ossetia as quoted by the "Interfax-South".

The Investigating Department of the FSB Department for North Ossetia has launched an investigation into criminal cases under Articles "Training in order to carry out terrorist activities" and "Involvement in activities of a terrorist organization", the "TASS" reports with reference to the press service of the FSB Department for North Ossetia. The above articles stipulate sentences from 15 years to life imprisonment, or 5-10 years of imprisonment.
