Armenia: opponents to constitutional reforms create youth movement

The movement of "National Democratic Platform" was created by members of the group of activists "You won't deceive us!" protesting against constitutional reforms in Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the civil initiative "You won't deceive us!" opposes the draft constitutional reforms, according to which the president will be elected for a seven-year term by the parliament. The referendum took place on December 6, 2015; and according to official data of the Central Election Commission (CEC), the reforms were supported by 63.35% of the voters. The opposition stated the use of the so-called "administrative resources" during the voting; while observers treated the results as invalid.

The new movement called "National Democratic Platform" should unite the young people who had fought against the adoption of the draft constitutional reforms at the referendum, Arshakh Musakhanyan, a member of the civil initiative "You won't deceive us!", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent today.

According to his story, the youth association should help to improve the level of social awareness in the society and prevent attempts to falsify the elections. In particular, the members of the "National Democratic Platform" are going to act as observers at the upcoming in 2017 parliamentary elections.
