Doctors state normalization of flu situation in most regions of Southern Caucasus

The swine flu incidence in Georgia remains complex: the H1N1 virus has been confirmed by laboratory analysis in 153 persons; two more patients died from complications; and the total number of this year's deaths from the virus made five persons. In Armenia, the incidence is declining; and Azerbaijan has registered no swine flu cases at all.

By January 28, in Georgia, the flue virus was confirmed in laboratories in 160 people, of whom 153 were sick with swine flu, reports the National Control Centre for Diseases and Public Health.

In Armenia, the incidence has dropped by 40%, said Armen Muradyan, the Minister of Public Health, the "Armenia Today" reports.

In Nagorno-Karabakh, currently, no swine flu cases are observed. As of January 22, all patients with this diagnosis were discharged from hospitals.

The laboratory studies of blood samples of more than 200 people suspected of having swine flu virus have revealed no A(H1N1) virus, says the press service of the Ministry of Public Health of Azerbaijan.

The permissible 20-percent morbidity threshold of flue and SARS viral infection is not reached in South Ossetia; there are no cases of swine flu there, said the Public Health Ministry of the region.

According to Andzor Goov, the Minister of Public Health of Abkhazia, there is no epidemic of influenza and SARS in Abkhazia, and the introduction of quarantine in schools was caused by preventive measures, the "Apsnypress" reports.
