ICRF: 128 KBR natives are at war in Syria
Since the onset of the warfare in Syria, 20 natives of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) have been killed there, said Valery Ustov, the Head of the Investigating Department (ID) for the KBR of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November, Yuri Chaika, General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation, reported on nearly 650 criminal cases instituted against Russian citizens involved in illegal armed formations (IAFs) abroad. Earlier, Evgeny Sysoev, Deputy Director of the FSB, has reported that about 7000 of Russian citizens and immigrants from the CIS countries were fighting for the "Islamic State" (IS).
"128 residents of the KBR are fighting in Syria for the IS, including some women; 20 of them were killed," the "Interfax" quotes Valery Ustov as saying.
He added that three other militants-returnees from Syria "were liquidated in the territory of the KBR." However, Valery Ustov did not specify during what period of time the returnees were killed.
The Head of the ID for the KBR of the ICRF also said that "three more returnees have been convicted, and in relation of three others criminal cases are under investigation," the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Different sources have confirmed the information that militants from Russia are fighting in Syria for the "Islamic State" (IS, earlier ISIL), which is recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia and other countries. The section "Guide" of the "Caucasian Knot" contains the reference material "Caucasians in the ranks of IS (ISIL)".
