Kadyrov accuses Turkish media of publishing rumours about attempt on him

The head of Chechnya has stated that Turkish media are spreading information about an assassination attempt on him because of his "principled viewpoint on the downed aircraft."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 24, a Russian Su-24 bomber from the air force grouping deployed in Syria was attacked by a pair of Turkish F-16 fighters and shot down by an "air-air" missile. This led to aggravation of Russian-Turkish relations.

On November 25, Chechen pro-governmental activists from the movement "Akhmat" staged a rally against Turkey. On November 28, Ramzan Kadyrov posted a statement on the Instagram, in which he accused Turkey of supporting terrorists. Members of the Chechen Diaspora in Turkey condemned the statement.

According to Kadyrov, the information on the assassination attempt on him "appeared in the Turkish media not accidentally and may be related to his principled stand on the position of the Turkish leadership on the downed Russian Su-24 bomber," the RIA Novosti has reported.

On November 2, the Chechen authorities reported the prevention of an attempt on Kadyrov, plotted by young people from the city of Argun.
