Dmitry Oreshkin: "Platon" system reveals problems of power
The conflicting statements about the "Platon" system made by Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, and Maxim Sokolov, Transport Minister, indicate the shortages of power system in Russia. This opinion was expressed by political analyst Dmitry Oreshkin.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that truck drivers from Russian regions, including the Krasnodar Territory, Dagestan, the Volgograd and Rostov Regions, are protesting against the "Platon" system, introduced to collect tolls from trucks for the use of the roads of federal significance.
Today, the media have started to report that the movement in the north of the Moscow Ring Road (known as MKAD) has been partially blocked by truck drivers. However, the press service of the Moscow road police (known as GIBDD) has reported that the traffic jams were not connected with the protest action of truck drivers.
Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, has called the decision on the introduction of the "Platon" system "insufficiently worked-out."
Independent political analyst Dmitry Oreshkin believes that the statement made by Maxim Sokolov and the comments made by Valentina Matviyenko on the "Platon" system are of no particular importance. Dmitry Oreshkin suggests that the whole vertical hierarchy of power is no longer working.
According to Maxim Sokolov, Transport Minister, the "Platon" system is operating normally, and there are no plans to stop the system.
