Director of Turkish madrasa detained in Derbent

In Dagestan, the police have searched the madrasa of the religious non-governmental fund "Suleimandji". Law enforcers report about confiscation of DVDs with videos of the "Islamic State" (IS) and "Imarat Kavkaz" from the madrasa.

On November 24, a Russian Su-24 bomber from Russian Air Force deployed in Syria was attacked by a couple of Turkish F-16 fighters and shot down by an "air-to-air" missile. This led to an aggravation of Russian-Turkish relations. According to Turkey, the bomber had penetrated into the Turkish airspace; the Russian Ministry of Defence denies this fact.

According to the police, the activities of the madrasa in Derbent were halted by the decision of the Supreme Court of Dagestan back in March this year.

"Employees of the Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) made a search of the premises and found DVDs with videos on participation in and calls for war from members of an international terrorist organization IS and 'Imarat Kavkaz' (both are banned in Russia as terrorist organizations), as well as religious literature," says the statement posted on the website of the above Chief Department.

After the search, policemen detained the director of the madrasa. So far, no comments of the detainee or his legal representatives are available.
