In Volgograd, participants of roundtable call on to intensify fight on extremism
In Volgograd, participants of the roundtable have announced that the prevention of extremism among young people and throughout the Internet should be enhanced, and the prevention measures should actively involve family members of schoolchildren and students.
On November 18, Volgograd hosted the roundtable on the topic "Prevention of extremism among young people", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. The event was attended by staff members of the regional administration of the "Roskomnadzor" (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications), the youth parliament, public organizations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and the Regional Committee for Nationalities and Cossacks.
In 2016, in the Volgograd Region, the police stopped four domestic conflicts, which could escalate into interethnic ones. This was reported by Andrei Arisov, a member of the Regional Centre to Combat Extremism. Besides, in Volgograd, the police detained an armed "member of a nationalist grouping", who arrived from another region.
According to Andrei Arisov, the Internet became "the main channel for the dissemination of the destructive ideology."
Archpriest Oleg Kirichenko, Chairman of the committee on the harmonization of interethnic and interreligious relations of the Public Chamber of the Volgograd Region, has emphasized that the measures on the prevention of extremism among young people should be enhanced.
Besides, according to the priest, it is important to teach parents to "recognize the symptoms that their children fell victim to the networks of extremists", since "it is easy to understand whether a person sympathizes the ISIL."
