Experts do not believe reports on prepared attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov

The information about an assassination attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov plotted by a group of young people is implausible. This opinion was expressed by the experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". According to them, the story about potential militants forgiven by the Chechen leader can be used to improve his reputation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 2, the Chechen State Radio and TV Company (ChSRTC) "Grozny" announced the prevention of an assassination attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov plotted by the young men from the city of Argun. In front of the TV cameras, Ramzan Kadyrov himself had a conversation with residents of Argun, who, according to him, fell victims to the extremist propaganda.

In general, it cannot be rule out that the group of young men could discuss the possibility of an assassination attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov or, for example, prepare a terror act. This was stated by Oleg Orlov, a member of the Board of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial". However, he believes that the young people would unlikely start any real actions.

Oleg Orlov has found that strange enough that no criminal proceedings were initiated against the people who, according to the authorities, were plotting a terror act. The human rights defender does not exclude that the whole situation was a PR move to introduce Ramzan Kadyrov as a humane politician.

Alexei Malashenko, a member of the Scientific Council of the Moscow Carnegie Centre, also questions the fact that the preparation of the assassination attempt could actually be carried out. However, Ramzan Kadyrov benefits from the very story with the failed assassination attempt on him.
