Relatives of Dagestan resident declare his disappearance after court session

Today, a resident of Dagestan Taimaz Abdurakhmanov has appealed to the HRC "Memorial" asking for help to locate his 43-year-old brother, Magomed Abdurakhmanov.

The applicant told the rights defenders that on October 20 his brother Magomed was detained at a poultry farm in the village of Gozolokolo of the Khunzakh District.

"Law enforcers brought him home to the village of Gotsatl and conducted a search there. Magomed told his father that he saw how they planted a bag of marijuana on him," says a release of the HRC "Memorial", received today by the "Caucasian Knot".

After the search, law enforcers took Magomed Abdurakhmanov to the Khunzakh ROVD (District Interior Division). For two days his relatives tried to locate him.

"The Khunzakh District Court held a session to appoint the freedom restriction measure for Magomed Abdurakhmanov. His relatives and friends saw that Magomed was brought into the courtroom – he could not walk by himself," the release of the HRC stresses.

According to the HRC "Memorial", the court has ruled to keep Abdurakhmanov under recognizance not to leave. Then, he was released in the courtroom.

"However, according to the advocate Shamil Dayitbegov, who was hired by the relatives, employees of the Khunzakh ROVD asked Abdurakhmanov to go with them to the police station allegedly to pick up his personal belongings. Magomed was taken away; and his relatives and the advocate have not seen him again," says the release of the HRC "Memorial".

Relatives of Magomed Abdurakhmanov suggest that "he could have been taken away to the Centre to Combat Extremism, where he is tortured and beaten."
