ReAl Movement refuses to recognize outcomes of parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, "Republican Alternative" (ReAl) Movement has refused to accept the outcomes of the parliamentary elections scheduled for November 1. Activists believe that in the absence of conditions for fair elections, the voting will not be free. At the same time, the ReAl has not withdrawn its candidates.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 28, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev signed a resolution to schedule the next elections to the National Assembly for November 1.

"Going to the polls, we've honestly stated that our main aim was not to fight for mandates. In our statement of October 2, we already noted that in the absence of the electoral atmosphere in the country and liquidation of electoral institutions, demonstration of free will of people was impossible; therefore we can't hope for any honest rivalry and victory. Our main goal was to take advantage of the campaign for communicating with citizens and informing the public about the ReAl," Natig Jafarli, the executive secretary of the movement, commented the statement to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The ReAL has called on people "to fight for their rights; to come to the polls, say 'no' to falsifications, and provide information about violations during the voting to electoral headquarters of the ReAL."
