Ingush woman reports her husband's death after his questioning in Chechnya

Human rights defenders from the Joint Mobile Group (JMG) of the Russian human rights organizations demand to carry out the investigation into the death of a resident of Ingushetia after his questioning at the Investigating Committee of Chechnya. The fact of the death was reported to the human rights defenders by the wife of the deceased man.

On May 25, 2015, Madina Mutalieva appealed to the JMG with the request to carry out the public investigation into the death of her husband Alikhan Ozdoev. According to the woman, on April 27, Alikhan suffered from an ulcer attack and was hospitalized; however, on the other day, her husband was taken to Grozny by an investigator from the Chief Investigating Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

In Grozny, Alikhan Ozdoev was detained in connection with the investigation into the criminal case under Article "sexual assault against a minor under the age of 14 years old." According to Madina Mutalieva, at the trial, her husband told her that on the day of his detention, he had been subjected to torture, including torture with electric current.

On May 8, family members of Alikhan Ozdoev were informed that he had died from a heart attack.

According to Madina Mutalieva, for about two months, she was not aware of the progress into the investigation into her husband's death, and then she was notified that on May 8, the criminal case was instituted under Part 4 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm negligently caused the death of the victim).

Anton Ryzhov, a lawyer of the JMG, has reported that the human rights defenders are preparing an appeal to the Chief of the ICRF to transfer the case of the death of the man, who left two minor children, to the central office for the investigation.
