Astrakhan Court starts trial in case against nationalist Igor Stenin

On September 16, the Soviet City Court of Astrakhan held the trial on the administrative case instituted against Igor Stenin, the leader of the movement "Russians of Astrakhan", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Igor Stenin is charged with posting in 2012 on his page in the social network "VKontakte" the video record "Orange Sun 14/88", which was recognized as extremist in July 2013.

During the court session, Igor Stenin has filed two motions: to close the proceedings in the case because of the lack of administrative offense and to request the information from the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "VKontakte".

The activist drew the Court's attention to the fact that the video record "Orange Sun 14/88" was recognized as extremist on July 17, 2013. The nationalist has also noted that the video record was included in the federal list of extremist materials on March 7, 2014.

"Even if we assume that we are talking about the same information material, then I had no opportunity to learn about the recognition of the video record 'Orange Sun 14/88' as extremist material," said Igor Stenin. He insists on the fact that he posted the video record in the social network "VKontakte" in 2012.
