Rakhaev's defence states manipulations with examination results

Investigators ignore the results of a number of forensic-medical examinations conducted under the case of Ruslan Rakhaev, the deputy head Cherkessk OVD (Interior Division), his defence has stated. According to the advocate, was conducted after the bones of the deceased detainee Dakhir Djankezov had been irreparably damaged.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 8, 2013, the court sentenced Ruslan Rakhaev to 13 years in prison, finding him guilty of abuse of power and intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to the detainee Dakhir Djankezov, which lead to the latter's death. The Supreme Court of the republic cancelled the verdict.

According to law enforcement bodies, on October 7, 2011, Rakhaev, while trying to get a confession from the administrative detainee Dakhir Djankezov, beat him up; and the man died. The defence is sure that Djankezov had been beaten up before he got into Rakhaev's study; and the charge against the latter was falsified.

At the September 4 session of the Cherkessk City Court, at announcement of the results of examinations, it turned out that investigators had ignored not only the conclusion of independent experts, but also the results of the examination carried out in the course of additional inquiry by the Russian Centre of Forensic-Medical Examinations.

The defence also drew attention to the fact that the histological studies, conducted within the examinations, confirmed Rakhaev's innocence.
