Picketers in Volgograd urge authorities not to save money on children
Today, eight activists of the public movement "Volgograd parents for children's rights" have held a picket in Volgograd against increase of fees for kindergartens, suspension of social benefits relating children, and reduction of kindergarten staff.
The picket was held from 11 to 12 a.m. in the Krasnooktiabrskiy District of Volgograd in the square in front of the Tsaritsyn Opera.
The today's picket in defence of children was the fourth one this year. The event was applied for 50 people; however only eight took part in it, Olga Cheburakova, the chair of the above movement and the organizer of the picket, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"Volgograd authorities remain blind-deaf-mute to children's problems. Today the bureaucrats' work to solve problems of pre-school institutions is based on the residual principle: if there's money left in the budget, it will then be allocated to kindergartens; if there's no money, then, there's nothing to blame for and argue about. Parents of Volgograd preschoolers have to solve kindergarten problems at their own expense," said the organizer of the action.
