Rostov activist of "December 5 Party" asks political asylum in Germany
Boris Batyj, a member of the federal political council of the "December 5 Party" and the coordinator of the movement "Solidarity" in Rostov-on-Don, has left Russia because of a threat of arrest, and turned to German authorities for political asylum.
The "Caucasian Knot" has earlier reported that Boris Batyj was detained in Rostov-on-Don in the course of an action for peace in Ukraine. The police became interested in the activist because of the poster reading: "Putin, stop lying and fighting!" Let us remind you also that Boris Batyj was detained on the eve of the rally of the non-system opposition "For Fair and legitimate power!" in 2012.
In November 2014, Boris Batyj became a figurant of two criminal cases: he was suspected of insulting policemen and public calls for extremist activities. According to the activist himself, the reason for his criminal prosecution was in his comments to the entries in the "LiveJournal" of the Rostov journalist Sergey Reznik.
The decision to leave Rostov-on-Don was made by him on May 8 this year – after the Investigating Committee demanded from him to appear for questioning, the edition "161.ru" reported on September 2, referring to Batyj.
