Dagestani resident with grenade detained on his way to Moscow
Law enforcers have reported on seizure of weapons and drugs from a resident of the Babayurt District of Dagestan, who was travelling in a bus to Moscow. The man was "preventively" registered at the police as a follower of Wahhabism, and he was taken in custody.
The 39-year-old resident of the village of Babayurt was detained by policemen at the federal checkpoint "Artesian" when they were checking IDs of bus passengers and inspected the bus with the help of a service dog.
During their inspection, the policemen found at the man's backpack and seized 21 rounds, a grenade with a fuse, and a package of heroin, the press service of the Chief Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) reports.
Two criminal cases were instituted against the detainee on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition and on suspicion of illegal drug possession.
It should be noted that the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that human rights defenders criticize the "preventive" police registration of Salafis. According to the human rights defenders, persons "preventively" registered at the police are often subjected without any apparent reasons to detentions, interrogations, photographing, and fingerprinting, and sometimes to forced submitting of their DNA samples.
