Resident of Dagestan convicted for inciting terrorism

The court has sentenced Rustam Kurbanov, resident of Makhachkala, finding him guilty of placing calls to terrorism on the Internet, to 2.5 years in colony-settlement.

According to the court, in 2014, Rustam Kurbanov posted on the Internet the material "Jihad as Pillar and Peak of Islam", containing statements aimed at inciting religion-based hatred and enmity, as well as justifying terrorism and calling to terrorist activities, the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan reported on July 23.

The North-Caucasian District Military Court has found Kurbanov guilty under Part 1, Article 205.2 (public calls to terrorist activities), and Part 1, Article 282 (inciting hatred or enmity), of the Russian Criminal Code.
