Resident of Dagestan sentenced for involvement in warfare in Syria
In Dagestan, the court has sentenced a local resident to four years of imprisonment for involvement in the combat actions in the territory of Syria as a member of the terrorist organization "Dzhabhat Al-Nusra".
According to a source in the law enforcement bodies of Dagestan, a resident of Dagestan was a member of the squad led by commander Djandulla.
"According to the court, in the period from September 2013 to June 2014, convict Magomednabiev was fighting in Syria on the side of a terrorist organization, and after his return home, he began to prepare acts of sabotage in the territory of Russia. A bomb of weight of 8 kg was found in the basement of his house," the "Interfax" quotes the law enforcer as saying.
The expertise has revealed that the convict manufactured explosive substance from ammonium nitrate and aluminium powder. He has fully admitted his guilt and concluded an agreement with the investigators.
The court found him guilty of involvement in an armed formation in the territory of a foreign state and in manufacture and storage of explosive substances. However, after the verdict had been pronounced, the convict appealed against it. He claimed that he had been a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF) in Syria only during three months and that he never took part in the combat actions. As far as explosive substance is concerned, the convict said he had made it to stun fish.
