In Yerevan, conference participants propose to create Women's Council for peace talks

In Yerevan, the conference "Caucasus our Common Home" was attended by representatives of the republics of Northern Caucasus, Ukraine, Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenia, a number of embassies in Armenia, members of the Yazidi community and international organizations of NATO and UNICEF. The main theme of the event was the role and rights of women in the Caucasus.

The conference, which was held in the Armenian capital on June 4-6, discussed three topics: "The world in the past year" devoted to the problem how the conflict year of 2014 affected women, "Women and Security" devoted to the role of peacekeeping forces in the countries where they operate, and "Resolution 1325".

According to the organizers of the conference, in the past year, only delegation from Azerbaijan failed to come to the conference because of the serious problems associated with travelling to Armenia, and Azerbaijani delegates took part in the event on-line. This year, Azerbaijani colleagues were also invited to the conference; however, according to the organizers, none of the Azerbaijani delegates came to Armenia for the same reasons.

The organizers of the event have emphasized that, as a result of the discussions, the conference participants proposed to create the Women's Council, which would include representatives from regions and countries, who would be delegated for participation in peace talks.
