Residents and guests of Sochi state loss of city-resort's attractiveness for tourists

The parade in honour of the opening of the resort season in Sochi was attended by about 24,000 people. The city is ready to receive tourists, officials from the Mayoralty assert; however, many residents and visitors complain about the non-compliance of the rest conditions created in Sochi to the status of resort-city.

The resort season was officially kicked off on May 30; this year, Sochi plans to receive 5.5 million tourists.

"This summer, 95 percent of hotel rooms in Sochi have been booked; now they book rooms for October and November," says the website of Sochi Mayoralty.

In anticipation of the opening of the resort season, Sochi held a meeting of city officials with representatives of resorts, hotels, restaurants, cafes and medium-sized businesses, many of whom noted that the main Sochi attraction is not in shows and carnivals, but in clean sea, accessible beaches without fences, green duly maintained parks and gardens, and absence of building fences and high-risers, which block the views of the sea to tourists.

At the same time, employees of travel agencies report a good selling of tours abroad, in particular, to Turkey.
