North-Caucasian rights defenders found expert-analytical centre

The North-Caucasian Expert-Analytical Centre (NCEAC) has begun its work in the regions of Northern Caucasus. Its first sitting was held on March 5-6 in Pyatigorsk.

The Centre intends to focus on human rights work, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Its main goal, according to its founders, will be "to promote the formation and strengthening of civil society institutions in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) based on the principles of mutual respect of the values of the multinational community, respect of human rights and freedoms, and support of interethnic peace and harmony."

The centre includes Ruslan Kambiev, a senior inspector for human rights of the Civil Committee for Protection of Citizens' Rights and Freedoms in the NCFD, who is representing Karachay-Cherkessia; Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the Human Rights Centre "MASHR" (Ingushetia); Temur Kobaliya, the head of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization (ANO) "Youth Consulting and Training Centre" (Volgograd ); Kheda Saratova, the head of the Independent Information-Analytical Agency "Objective", a human rights activist from Chechnya; other NPO activists, journalists and bloggers from Northern Caucasus. Also, Ravil Tugushev, a lawyer from the Saratov Region, known for his participation in litigations aimed to lift the ban on Islamic literature, has been invited as a Centre's expert.
