Head of Ingushetia demands to check students' complaints about ban to wear hijabs

The head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov has instructed the republic's Security Council to check the complaints of female-students of the medical college in Nazran, who complained that some teachers forbid them to wear hijabs.

Yunus-Bek Evkurov has criticized his officials for poor job of identifying those responsible for the current situation, says the press service of the Ingush leader.

He ordered the head of the Security Council to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, and, next time, to react promptly to this kind of conflicts, says the statement posted on March 2 on Evkurov's official website.

According to his story, to wear a hijab or not is a personal business of any woman.

"In our republic, none of the officials has the right to prohibit women to wear a hijab, including at educational institutions," the "Interfax-South" quotes the head of Ingushetia as saying.
