Public figures of Ingushetia and Dagestan support ban of "Fifty Shades of Grey"

Public and religious leaders of Ingushetia and Dagestan support the decision of regional authorities to ban the screening of the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey", which contains plenty of sexual scenes. Some residents have disagreed; meanwhile, the KBR and the Stavropol Territory have held the first-run of the movie.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the American movie "Fifty Shades of Grey", which was released on February 12 for screening by Russian cinemas, will not be shown in most of the republics of Northern Caucasus. Film distributors explain the ban by the fact that the content of the movie is contrary to the values of Islam and the mentality of local citizens, and by appeals on this matter of religious and public figures. Local officials and clergymen have also called on Dagestanis to boycott the "Fifty Shades of Grey".

Screening of such films is incompatible with the appearance of Caucasians and religious provisions, said Khasan Nalgiev, the chairman of the board of the Ingush Charitable Foundation "Tesham". He sees the problem in the absence of people's understanding and perception of their own culture.

However, the KBR and the Stavropol Territory have launched the screening of the movie. At two cinemas of Nalchik, as of 2 p.m., only 40 tickets were sold. Because of age restrictions, tickets are sold only against presenting a passport.
