Head of "Astrakhan Russians" movement released under recognizance not to leave

Igor Stenin, the head of the "Astrakhan Russians" movement, who was detained by FSB agents on charges of inciting extremism, has been released under recognizance not to leave.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Igor Stenin was detained on January 21, at a rally, organized by the "Astrakhan Russians" in memory of a local resident Galia Borisenko – natives of Northern Caucasus are accused of involvement in her death. On January 22, employees of the regional FSB branch conducted a search in Stenin’s apartment. They confiscated two computer system blocks and the telephone, and sealed up his apartment.

Igor Stenin told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that FSB agents came to him at about 8 in the morning with a search warrant dated January 21, 2015.

He said that he was charged under Part 1, Article 280, of the Russian Criminal Code (public calls for action aimed at breaking territorial integrity of the Russian Federation).

"Already at the FSB, I was told that the charges were brought against me for reposting someone's article in a social network last summer. I have no access to the Internet now to see what exactly was the reason for the criminal case against me. They took my explanations and released under the recognizance not to leave," Igor Stenin told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
