FSB agents detain leader of "Astrakhan Russians" movement

On January 21, agents of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) detained Igor Stenin, the leader of the "Astrakhan Russians" movement, as Pavel Chikov, the head of the "Agora" association has reported.

Employees of the regional FSB branch have confiscated two computer system blocks and the telephone, and sealed up his apartment, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Igor Stenin is suspected of committing a crime under Article 280 of the Russian Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities), Pavel Chikov wrote in his page on the Twitter.

Igor Stenin was detained at a rally, organized by the "Astrakhan Russians" in memory of a local resident Galia Borisenko – natives of Northern Caucasus are accused of involvement in her death. In the course of the rally, participants, including Stenin, also spoke against the appointment of Tagir Gadjiev, a native of Dagestan, to the post of the Military Commissar of the Astrakhan Region, the "OVD-Info" News Agency reports.
