Investigators identify native of North Ossetia detained in Austria as Aslan Gagiev, organizer of resonant murders

A native of North Ossetia detained in Vienna has been identified as Aslan Gagiev, the leader of the criminal grouping responsible for about 40 murders. This was reported by the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). Aslan Gagiev is to be extradited to Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 17, the native of North Ossetia was detained by the criminal police of Austria in one of the districts of Vienna. The policemen seized from the detainee a fake Bulgarian passport. According to the police, he left Russia in 2013.

The criminal grouping was founded by Aslan Gagiev in 2004, and it involved more than 46 members. They are responsible for more than 40 murders, attempts on the lives of law enforcers and attempted murders in the territories of Moscow, the Moscow Region, and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, the statement on the official website of the ICRF reports.

"All the murders were contract-style. Moreover, a series of murders were committed by direct orders of Aslan Gagiev," reports the official website of the ICRF.

At present, the Russian General Prosecutor's Office is preparing documents for the extradition of Aslan Gagiev.
