Chechnya opens large sports-and-tourist complex named "Kezenoi Am"

On October 21, the mountainous Vedeno District, located in Southern Chechnya, opened a sports-and-tourist complex "Kezenoi Am", located on the shore of the lake of the same name.

"This is a great event in terms of the inflow of tourists both for the district and for the country as a whole,” the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of Chechnya, adding that back in 1970-80s the lake shore housed a training base of the USSR national Olympic team; however, during the military campaigns all objects were almost completely destroyed, while the construction of the "Kezenoi Am" was launched just two years ago.

The district administration has reported that the complex includes a 58-room hotel, a restaurant, a playground, a sauna and a boat station.

Locals say that in the last few days the territory of the complex and the area adjacent to Lake Kezenoi Am was virtually inaccessible due to enhanced security measures.

"Now, when they have built a complex, everything looks much more beautiful. But the issue is whether all the willing people will be able to come to rest here. I saw what was going there during the last two days, when at all the high areas were occupied by militaries. If some top boss wishes to come and relax here, especially with his high guests, I think, ordinary people would not be allowed to approach the lake,” said a local named Murad.
