Sapiyat Magomedova complains to Dagestani ID about delays in investigation into case of her beating

On September 1, in Dagestan, advocate Sapiyat Magomedova filed a complaint to the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), stating that the investigation into the case of her beating by policemen was intentionally delayed. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Sapiyat Magomedova herself.

According to Sapiyat Magomedova, on June 17, 2010, she was beaten by two staff members of the OVD (Interior Division). However, the policemen claimed that the advocate had attacked them herself. The investigating authorities have initiated criminal proceedings against both the policemen and advocate Sapiyat Magomedova. Later, the criminal cases were combined into one, and on December 28, 2011, the investigation was closed. On April 2, 2014, the Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan recognized unlawful the decision to close the criminal proceedings and ordered to reopen the investigation.

"Despite my numerous verbal requests to inform me about the progress of the investigation into the case, the Dagestani ID and the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala fail to give me any adequate answer," Sapiyat Magomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on September 1.

On September 1, the advocate filed a complaint to the head of the Dagestani ID of the ICRF and a copy of the complaint to the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala. In her complaint, the advocate requested to take appropriate actions in connection with delays in the investigation into the case against the policemen suspected of beating her.
