An employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has sexually abused a woman from Makhachkala, stated Gulnara Rustamova, the leader of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy). A complaint about the incident was filed to the Investigating Committee for Dagestan.

According to Asiya Patakhova, a friend of the detained woman, on August 23, their friend came to visit them in an apartment in Makhachkala, which she rented together with Aishat Abakarova. Asiya Patakhova and the visitor are widows of suspected militants killed earlier.

According to the statement made by Gulnara Rustamova, the leader of the DRPO "Pravozaschita", addressed by the Makhachkala women after the incident, late at night, a policeman broke into the apartment. When staying at the apartment, he held them at gunpoint, and then he forcibly took the friend of Asiya Patakhova and Aishat Abakarova with him and subjected her to sexual abuse in his office.

According to Aishat Abakarova, in the morning, the policeman let the female resident of Makhachkala go. During all that time, Aishat Abakarova and Asiya Patakhova stayed at the house of Gulnara Rustamova, since they were afraid to return home.

Officials from the Investigating Committee for Dagestan have informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they are not aware of the report on rape.
