Georgian ensemble "Sukhishvili" cancels its concert in Russia

The Folk Dance Ensemble of Georgia "Sukhishvili" has cancelled its concert in Saint Petersburg in connection with the events in Ukraine, Nino Sukhishvili, the head of the ensemble, said on July 23.

"We've cancelled the concert on principle," Nino Sukhishvili said on July 23 in her interview to the Ukrainian TV Channel "1+1".

"I can't blame other artists who continue touring over Russia, because people believe that art is a good way to build relationships, that arts and sports are not politics. I stick to the opinion that arts are politics," Ms Sukhishvili explained her position, without specifying the date of the concert in Saint Petersburg.

According to her story, when the ensemble performs, they hung out the flag of Ukraine on the stage, symbolizing their support for the people of this country. From January 30 to July 22, the "Sukhishvili" toured over Ukraine, says the official website of the ensemble.
