Gulkevichi
Rayon (sector) centre in Krasnodar kray (region), 150 km north-east of Krasnodar. Located in Ciscaucasia. Railway station in the Rostov-on-Don - Armavir line. Population (1992 est.) 33.3 thousand, (1959 est.) 15.7 thousand, (1979 est.) 27.3 thousand.
The stanitsa (Cossack village) of Gulkevichi arose in 1875. Town since 1961. At the beginning of the 1990s, Gulkevichi had a factory of steelworks, a sugar-refinery and a creamery, a factory of building materials, an integrated concrete product works.
Agricultural centre (grain, fruit, berry crops; pig-breeding, aviculture).
