In Dagestan, parents of policeman accused of robbery ask authorities to take inquiry under control

The parents of Magomed Piraev, a former policeman of Kizilyurt, have appealed to the President and Prime Minister of Russia, as well as to the leaders of the country's law enforcement bodies, asking them to supervise the investigation of the criminal case initiated against their son. According to the applicants, the investigation goes with gross violations of the law.

Magomed Piraev, a former operative agent of the criminal search of the Kizilyurt ROVD, was detained on April 23, 2013, and charged with robbery, banditry, stealing weapons and other grave crimes committed in 2012.

Within 10 months of inquiry into Piraev's case, several investigators replaced each other, his advocate Salimat Kadyrova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to her story, Piraev was subjected to physical pressure not only in the SIZO of Cherkessk and Makhachkala, but even in the investigator's study at the investigating department in the presence of another lawyer, with whom he was forced to sign an agreement.

In their turn, officials from the investigating committee assert that there were no violations of the Code of the Criminal Procedure in relation to Magomed Piraev.

According to Arslan Arslakhanov, the head of Division Two for Especially Important Cases of the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the ICRF, the inquiry into the case included a forensic examination intended to reveal the presence of any bodily injuries in Piraev.
