Chechnya: mother of abducted girl complains about investigators' inaction
The mother of Khadizhat Elimkhanova, a 20-year-old resident of Grozny, abducted in Chechnya, has complained to the Prosecutor's Office about improper investigation into her daughter's abduction. The Office has stated that they will supervise the investigation.
Let us remind you that on July 6, 2013, in the town of Mayakovsky, Khadizhat Elimkhanova was abducted by two men; one of them, according to eyewitnesses, was armed and dressed in camouflage. They beat the resisting girl, threw her into the car and drove away.
Despite the fact that more than six months have expired since the abduction, the investigating authorities have not yet questioned the witnesses and failed with other necessary actions, the mother stated in her application to the Prosecutor's Office.
"This case received broad public resonance, because apart from the prosecutors the mother also turned to human rights and public organizations," said the leader of one of local NGOs, who asked not to name him.
According to his story, a girl's relative, a law enforcer is suspected of the abduction. "But for some strange reason, he was not even questioned by investigators," he said.
