In Chechnya, Prosecutor's Office demands to recognize website "Chechenews" as extremist
On January 17, the Chechen Prosecutor's Office appealed to the Zavodskoi District Court of Grozny to recognize the website "Chechenews" as extremist.
The claim was filed to the Court by Nikolai Khabarov, Deputy Prosecutor of Chechnya. According to prosecutors, the website "Chechenews" contains information, including video and audio record, which had been recognized extremist and included by the Ministry of Justice in the Federal List of Extremist Materials.
The Prosecutor's Office claims that the website highlights politically significant events in Russia with the position of members of the banned organization "Imarat Kavkaz". Furthermore, it contains calls to violate the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, commit terror acts, and other extremist materials. This was reported by the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the ChechenRepublic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in February 2013, the Lenin Court of Grozny granted the motion filed by the Chechen Prosecutor's Office and recognized as extremist the websites "Blog of Agency 'Caucasus-Centre' and "Imam-TV".
