Over 200 refugees left Satsita camp in April

212 people left the Satsita tent camp, which is in Ingushetia's Sunzha district, for places of their permanent residence on the territory of Chechnya from 5 to 11 April 2004, a source at the Chechen governmental committee for compensation payments and displaced persons told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. Over 100 camp inhabitants left for their homeland only on Saturday, April 10, the source added.

"At present time, people going to Chechnya are leaving mainly for the private sector. We, in our turn, help them settle the issues of drawing up contracts of tenancy, by which the state pays for the citizens' habitation in rented apartments," the committee's official Akhmed Zaurbekov said via phone. "Besides, returning displaced persons are given notices about the getting of compensation. They also receive one time grants at the rate of 1,000 rubles per one man."

People are returning to their homeland voluntarily now as before. The authorities plan to resettle the people remaining in the camp by the beginning of May.

There are still 254 tents in the Satsita camp, which are home to 1,650 people, according to the Ingush migration department. And 40 thousand displaced persons live in the private sector and in the places of compact residence.
