Investigators agree to give advocates materials on the case of death of 24 civilians in Katyr-Yurt

The materials of the case of the death of 24 residents of Chechnya in the bombing of the village of Katyr-Yurt will be provided to the advocates who represent victims' interests. The relevant investigators' decision was announced at the today's court session in Grozny.

One of the advocates, Dokka Itslaev, has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in total they submitted two complaints to the court: "One of them concerned the termination of the investigation on the case; the other – the refusal to provide the case files for acquaintance."

According to his story, the date for consideration of the second complaint – on the termination of the case has not yet been appointed by the court.

According to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", on February 4, 2000, the bombardment and missile strikes of Katyr-Yurt by Russian militaries killed from a few dozens to more than 100 civilians, according to various estimates.

On December 2, 2010, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) ordered the Russian government to pay compensations in the amount of 1.72 million euros on the case of the death of 24 residents of Chechnya in the bombing of Katyr-Yurt, and pointed to the necessity to hold a new investigation of the case.
