In North Ossetia, picket against "Electrozink" was supported by 15 persons

Up to 15 people have come today to picket against the operation of the metallurgical factory of the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Electrozink" in Vladikavkaz, said German Revazov, the organizer of the action and an activist of the movement "Stop 'Electrozink'!" and the environmental organization "Novoe Vremya".

The picket took place in Victory Square from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. According to Revazov, he was disappointed at the small number of participants and believes that unless residents of Vladikavkaz pay due attention to the current situation, the environmental problem will persist.

As stated by the organizer, environmental activists again expressed their outrage because of the threat of reduction of the sanitary protection zone around the factory from 1000 to 300 meters.

According to Revazov, law enforcement bodies did not interfere with the picket.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
