In Gimry, for Ramadan power agents move curfew later

The situation in the village of Gimry, Untsukul District of Dagestan, remains calm despite the ongoing counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime, local residents report. As stated by the head of the village Aliaskhab Magomedov, the curfew that is still in force in the village was shifted to a later time for the convenience of the believers who observe the Ramadan fasting.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the special operation in Gimry began on April 11 and was accompanied by blowing up of several houses.

A local resident Rasul Magomedov has said that Gimry villagers are waiting for compensations for spoiled and lost property. According to his story, the situation in the village is calm. "We understand the need of the presence of militaries, inspections at the checkpoint; and we hope that this is the last counterterrorist operation in the village. People are tired of the militants and problems they create," said the man.

It should be noted here that on 16 July, during the roundtable held in Moscow on the topic: "Contours of New Policy in Dagestan: First Successes and Dangerous Trends", the situation in Gimry was highlighted by Varvara Parkhomenko, an employee of the representative office of the International Crisis Group in Russia, who noted that the CTO interferes with people's normal life.
