Names of murdered Azerbaijani and Dagestani journalists memorized in US Journalism Museum

Names of 70 journalists, killed during performing their professional duties in 2011, were memorized in the Journalism Museum in Washington. The list includes the names of Rafiq Tagi, the Azerbaijani journalist, and Khadjimurad Kamalov, the editor of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft) in Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 19, in Baku, unidentified people attacked Rafiq Tagi and gave him stab wounds to his neck, abdomen, and shoulder. The writer in grave condition was hospitalized to resuscitation ward; he underwent surgery. After the operation, the health state of Rafiq Tagi stabilized to some extent. However, on November 23, the writer died.

Khadjimurad Kamalov was killed on December 15, 2011, in Makhachkala, not far from the office of the "Chernovik". Criminals shot to the journalists 14 times. Wounded Kamalov was brought to the republic's emergency station; however, he died on the way.

Among 70 journalists, killed during performing their professional duties in 2011 and memorized in the Journalism Museum in Washington, there are journalists from Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and Russia, the "Radio Azattyk" reports.

Their names were inscribed on the special memory wall in the Journalism Museum. The ceremony was held on May 14, the "Radio Freedom" reports.
