Supporters of Wahhabism are looked for in Kabardino-Balkaria schools
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that law enforcement officers in Kabardino-Balkaria go on looking for teenagers at schools who tend to practice non-traditional Islamism. The panic started after the inscription "Jihad is freedom" appeared in one of the schools of Nalchik.
Preventive measures boil down to compiling lists of teenagers who do prayers or have a second Moslem name. Reasons to be included into such lists include an Islamic video on the mobile telephone.
Today, during a briefing at the MIA Arsen Tishkov, chief of section on fighting religious extremism of the local department of fighting organized crime, stated that there are facts when "senior pupils make juniors to place Islamic wallpaper in their mobile telephones, download them videos showing acts of sabotage and terrorism."
He said that during the coming days a meeting of all heads of schools would be held for discussing the problem.
It has been reported that a 17-year-old schoolboy was detained in Kabardino-Balkaria. It is Sergey Potekhin, a Russian boy who entered Islam. Some ammunition has been found on him. A criminal case has been initiated.
