Residents of two districts Dagestan rally in Makhachkala demanding compensation for flooded lands

Today at 1:00 p.m. in Makhachkala, near the Avar Theatre, residents of the Untsukul and Gergebil District held a rally. They demanded compensation for their lands flooded during construction of the Irganai HPP (Hydroelectric Power Plant).

Residents complained that the compensation had been paid not to all the victims.

They argue that those who lost more received nothing.

"Our due money was given to those who didn't even know where our land and our villages are located... Whoever had received the money. Initial lists of victims were compiled; and those who had lost their property received compensations; however, those who got into subsequent lists received nothing.

I'm fighting for our rights for more than ten years already, but no one would hear us," a villager from Maidanskoe, Untsukul District, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent at the rally.
