Basayev stands behind all terrorist acts with kamikazes
Terrorist acts in which kamikazes are used are committed under the direct command of the Chechen terrorist Shamil Basayev, stated director of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Nikolay Patrushev.
Basayev, according to Mr. Patrushev, is the one who distributes methods of training kamikazes among other field commanders in Chechnya. Either fanatic women between the ages of 16 and 30 or women abducted in various regions of Russia and subjected to psychophysical pressure are prepared and used to commit such terrorist acts, the FSB director said.
In August 2003, the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee against Al-Qaeda and the Taliban put Shamil Basayev on the consolidated list of persons falling under the resolution of the UN Security Council.
Thus the international community admitted the connection between leaders of armed units in Chechnya and international terrorist organizations, noted Mr. Patrushev. A bit earlier, in June, Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev was put on the same list.
